PPI Project Management were engaged by Anglo American to provide zero-tension installation of PED cable and trenching
Our team on site at Moranbah North Mine were engaged by Anglo American to provide 11.4km of trenching, PED cable installation and filling of trench.
The objective of our works are to extend the existing PED loop infrastructure to improve underground emergency communications in the 607 Panel and Lower East Mains production areas. The total loop length is 11.4km and includes a lead in to the communications hut.
This project has been a challenging yet rewarding project which consisted of trenching 600mm deep and installing a direct buried fibreoptic cable and marker tape. The cable uses a zero-tension pulling technique to ensure there is no damage to the cable on installation. The installation also consisted of approximately 20 pits and approximately 20 crossings which require vacuum truck excavation.
The current equipment we have on site consists of:
- 5.5t excavator with various attachments
- Posi Track, slasher and trencher
- Chainsaw equipment
- Multiple light vehicles
- Heavy vehicle
